Hi,
Here are some pictures of our February 4th “Solidarity Sit-In” here in Rome, Italy, to say “No War against Iran” at the same time as people were demonstrating in Washington, D.C. and 60 other cities.
Our turnout (as “U.S. Citizens for Peace & Justice – Rome”) was small today because of the unusual snowstorm that hit Rome — public transportation was almost nil and roads were blocked.
Yet a few of us managed to make it and held up our “Hands off Iran” signs in two places in Rome:
— the wall maps next to the Colosseum, depicting the expansion of the Roman Empire;

— the Tomb of the Unknown Fallen Soldier in the heart of downtown Rome.

We wanted to make the point that the NeoCon agenda for an American Empire is as dangerous as the Romans’ expansionist policies were — in the end, the subdued peoples revolted and destroyed the Roman empire, and the same could happen if we try to subdue and dominate all the oil-rich countries of the world such as Iran.
Enough Fallen Soldiers!
We need oil? Then we can buy it — like Canada or Mexico do — not start wars for it.
In peace,
U.S. Citizens for Peace & Justice – Rome
