In the wake of some releases of prisoners from Guantanamo ― all of them having been cleared to leave many years ago ― global protests to CLOSE the U.S. torture prison took place Saturday. 15 men still remain; 6 of them have never been charged with anything; the others are still awaiting trial or have attempted to plead guilty.
We’re sharing this from a supporter regarding our work on closing the prison at Guantanamo: “I find World Can’t Wait remains the only organization that wants to close Guantanamo for human rights reasons. Is there any other to better to suggest this torture camp be closed for good? Prisoners of mistaken rhetoric and those of conscience must be recognized as equally protected, and that’s best accomplished by closing Guantanamo immediately.”
