Mark Ruffalo: Why I signed the “Crimes are Crimes…” Statement

Posted on July 1, 2010

"With US intelligence reporting there are less than 20 Al Queda members in Afghanistan, with the constant bloodshed and intangible objective in Afghanistan –it does not matter what General we put in- we are just changing seats on the Titanic or putting a new color ‘lipstick on a pig’. Get us out of Afganistan!"- Mark Ruffalo

Afghanistan is such a poor country. It is shameful that a rich military powered country is fighting there. Shouldn’t we address the views of the people in the region?

We’ve been here before in recent
history. I can’t believe we let
    this happen again. Out now.

I believe that this war, like most others, is to maintain our imperialist empire’s access to fossil fuels & raw materials. The part of the long term solution that each of us has the most power to act is to change our own life style so that we do not use more energy & resources than the planet can sustain.

Politician started war is a sin under all and every circumstance. Thus this war, too, should be forthwith ended.
