From World Can’t Wait, San Francisco Bay Area chapter
THIS FRIDAY May 14 at the Greek Theater – EARLY MORNING PROTEST!
This Friday, will you stand up against torture? Join the demonstration outside the 2010 graduation at UC Berkeley Law (Boalt Hall), the prestigious law school harboring and protecting a war criminal.
Torture Professor John Yoo is still enjoying a tenured Boalt teaching post – when according to any real standards of justice, Yoo and all his colleagues on the Bush-Cheney Torture Team should be fired, disbarred and prosecuted for war crimes.
The protest will feature a tableau of "Guantanamo prisoners" wearing orange jumpsuits and bearing witness outside the Greek Theater as the audience arrives and the processional begins. We will provide jumpsuits for all who want to participate; call 415 864 5153 to sign up in advance.
We also need volunteers to carry "super-pickets," flyer literature, and hand out ribbons. World Can’t Wait will provide some appropriate signs for people to hold up, bring your own as well.
• Activists will start meeting up outside the Greek Theater at 7:30 AM; look for organizers in orange armbands. Gates open at 8:00 for the audience to be seated. Processional starts 8:30 AM.
• During the 9:00 AM ceremony we’ll move the protest to the Clark Kerr Courtyard for the post-commencement 11:30-1:30 reception (a 10-15 minute walk from the Greek Theater on Gayley Road (Gayley turns into Piedmont Ave. which veers east to Warring St.)
Be at this protest to call on the entire UC community to reject complicity with the war crime of torture.
Help make this the last year that War Criminal John Yoo sits on the faculty at Cal!
