November 21/22, 2009 in New York City @ Alwan for the Arts, 16 Beaver Street. Register now to join in the important work of analyzing what we’re up against in stopping the crimes of our government, and in making plans to do so.
The anti-war movement in its main has died because MOST of the leaders of the previous anti-war movement got seduced by Obama, but World Can’t Wait has not died – not hardly.
A political realignment in this country needs to take place. The parties of war criminals – the GOP and the Democrats – and the all-too cooperative corporate media are colluding with each other. Most people take their cues from them and are thus disoriented, but there is great restiveness in the land. That restiveness needs organizing and it needs clarity since much of the sentiments we see are inchoate still.
YOU are needed in New York City on November 21-22 to participate, strategize, think, envision, and work on plans for resistance to the crimes on our government.
World Can’t Wait invites not only its core activists from around the country, but anyone who wants to learn or contribute to the mission of stopping the crimes of our government and opposing the continuing “fascist re-making” of US society.
Agenda:
Saturday November 21:
9am Registration & Coffee
10am – 6pm Presentations & Discussion through lunch on:
* Ending the unjust occupations; the coming surge in US troops to Afghanistan; “droning on” in Pakistan…what was that about ending the Iraq war? * The US torture state continuing as indefinite detention; the failure to close Guantanamo, and expansion of Bagram detention facility * Confronting the “fascist” direction: Women thrown under the healthcare “reform” bus, doctors murdered for doing abortions; “change” by continuing the 2nd class citizenship of gays, continuing raids and other repression against immigrants. * Tightening up PATRIOT Act/police state restrictions; the G-20 protests as a case study in political repression. * Looking at the “right-wing” and why they have the initiative and are setting the terms in political discourse, while the Democratic Party controls Congress and the White House. Confronting the collapse of the US anti-war movement.
8pm Film showing: “Outside the Law: Stories from Guantanamo” by Andy Worthington. General public invited.
Sunday November 22:
9 am Coffee
9:30 am – 3pm Working groups and summation discussion on plans going forward in 2010:
* Publishing a new cohering statement opposing the direction of US society internationally & domestically. * Reaching youth to resist military recruiters; supporting military resisters. * War Criminals Watch; reaching college students and professors. * Confronting the attacks on abortion and gay rights; increased government spying and police state measures. * Worldcantwait.net, social networking and getting the message out much more widely.
In further response to the question from “?”:

That’s what this meeting’s about.
Why would you think that? Here’s the agenda:
