Stand With the G-20 Protesters

Posted on September 27, 2009

By Debra Sweet

The most blatant show of military and police force left protesters tear-gassed, subject to piercing sound, shot with rubber bullets, and not allowed to assemble, while the population of Pittsburgh was kept off the streets and rounded up along with people there to deliver messages of opposition to the G-20 ministers.

We put a quick letter together which we will deliver on Thursday.  Please circulate this link everywhere so that thousands sign on.

READ Cindy Sheehan’s letter from Pittsburgh
Coverage from Rob Kall, National Lawyers Guild

WATCH video and here and here.

SIGN this letter of outrage, to be sent to federal and PA authorities.  Deadline 10-1-2009

CONTACT these officials:
Luke Ravenstahl: Mayor of Pittsburgh 412-255-2626
Nathan Harper: Chief of Police, Pittsburgh  412-323-7800
Ed Rendell: Governor of Pennsylvania 717 787-2500

People of conscience must stand together in outrage and not accept this repression from the government on the people.  We cannot allow these actions to go quietly into the night and be forgotten.
We are seizing the opportunity to have our voices heard in unison, denouncing the fascist direction of this country.   It is with the utmost urgency and for the sake of stopping the police state and reversing this course that WE WILL NOT BE SILENT.

By signing this statement we pledge to do everything we can to call attention to, and demand justice for those unjustly arrested and charged at the G-20 in Pittsburgh.  The world can’t wait!
If you have further ideas, writings, reports, photos, please send them!

Every time there is a protest of some kind the police are out in force in Riot
gear like they expect something to happen
I am all for being prepared but the policed should keep a low profile and not make thier presence so obvious. I think that by the police being out in force in riot gear actualy may cause more riots then prevent it

This is indeed outrageous- what happened at the G20- peaceful protesters being attacked by the police, local people who lived in the area being tear gassed and shot with rubber bullets. It is way past time for people to stop sucking the deadly Obamalade and get out there and resist the dangerous trajectory that this country is on.The G20 is nothing more and nothing less than a get together of dominating imperialist countries, led by the sole superpower, the U.S. to dominate and control the rest of the world. Check out what World Can’t Wait has to say, and also check out why this system cannot meet human needs and is outmoded and that we need revolution and Communism. Check out the live, special webcast with Raymond Lotta on Tuesday, September 29th @ 4:30 pm at Revolution Books- “Behind the World Economic Crisis: System Failure & the Need for Revolution”. For more information go to http://www.revcom.us Thanks.

All men and women of good will must withdraw their support from this corrupt and fascistic political and economic system. As for our loathsome “leaders”, recall that “we are many, they are few”.

We have many weapons – boycotts, general strikes, counter-recruitment, tax resistance, refusal of all service to the state, including jury duty. Organize resistance at the workplace, at school, in the neighborhood. Above all, cultivate solidarity. If you’re not one of the filthy rich, you’re a worker, and those bastards want to crush you. It’s as simple as that.
