The election of the first black president is effectively re-branding preemptive and illegal wars of aggression to make us feel good about them, enlisting us to “serve and sacrifice” for horrors we have no good reason to support.
The U.S. war on Afghanistan is an unjust war of aggression—the supreme war crime, waged not to bring democracy and liberation to the Afghan people, but to control Afghanistan with the goal of permanent domination of the Middle East.
But, we don’t have to go along! It’s immoral to “wait and see” or hope for the best from Obama.
If you care about humanity, get in the streets to send a message to the world that there are millions of us who don’t want these crimes carried out.
It’s time now to take action & make our demands visible everywhere.

@common man,
Let me start by saying I really unite with your sentiments of not wanting to go along with “American lives are worth more than Iraqi lives.” That’s a great sentiment and we should really unite around it. World Can’t Wait raised the slogan a while back “Stop thinking like an American and start thinking about humanity!”
With that said, let’s be clear, every day that the US occupies Iraq is a horror for the people of Iraq, and the “you break it you buy it” logic that the Democrats peddle to us is just an excuse so that an imperialist empire can invade and continue to occupy any country they want to.
It’s true that there will be a lot of problems in Iraq once the US is finally forced out, but US empire is the PROBLEM, not the solution! It is the source of all of this continued sectarian violence, of the intensifying oppression of women, of the unending destruction and devastation of the country. All of these things have been systematically unleashed as a part of the US occupation.
And Obama’s approach of keeping 50,000 troops in Iraq permanently will only serve to make this even worse.

You should check out this talk by Matthis Chiroux: http://worldcantwait.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5192:presentation-by-army-vet-matthis-chiroux-at-stopping-the-endless-wars-and-tortureq&catid=91:anti-torture&Itemid=262
Matthis talks about how he was in the military, and refused to deploy to Iraq… and the hardest thing for him when he wanted to resist, was all of the “support the troops” stuff, and the troops who resisted would be shamed as cowards, and he called on us to “support the troops who resist.”
I understand if you dont support our president but we must support our troops. My family and friends are in Irag fighting for our country and IF WE ARE OVER HER PROTESTING IT THEN THEY FEEL LIKE THEY ARE RISKING THEIR LIVES FOR NOTHING…THIS IS LEADING TO WHAT HAPPENED IN VEITNAM…SOLDIERS FEELING LIKE THEY DID SOMETHING WRONG INSTEAD OF FEELING LIKE HEROS LIKE THEY ARE.
I am quite pleased that our President is taking a pragmatic approach to withdrawal from Iraq. It was a mistake to go in there in the first place I admit, but if you were truly altruists, you would support what our government is doing to stabilize Iraq and keep the peace. Let me ask you this, for I am always intrigued by the opinions of others: If withdrawing from Iraq would result in the deaths of more Iraqis than reamining in Iraq, would you support withdrawal and death or maintainted prescence and stability?
And if you will allow me, let me ask you this as well: If withdrawing from Iraq would save more American lives, would you support it in light of the fact that this withdrawal would result in the deaths of many Iraqis?
In other words, whose lives matter more to you, the lives of Americans or the lives of foreigners? If you had a choice between saving America or saving the world, which would you choose?
let’s digg the shit out of this!
Theres a ton of protest and general strikes being planned around these dates globally including strike in France, US, UK, Canada, etc. For more go to

Corporations have merged with government, which was basically Mussolini’s definition of fascism:
“Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power.” –Benito Mussolini.
Severely corrupt governments + corporations are why so many people are suffering!!! There are abundant resources on this planet for EVERYONE to have clean water, food, shelter, decent jobs, medical care, etc.!!!
