8/21/07: Last Saturday, over 200 peopple participated in a spirited antiwar march in the Washington Heights area of New York City. World Can’t Wait was a co-sponsor. Elaine Brower of the WCW national steering committee gave a great speech on behalf of World Can’t Wait before the march began. Rev. Luis Barrios, another national steering committee member, spoke in Spanish, addressing the importance of the battle against the current attack on immigrants and opposing the war.
WCW connected with people with bandanas and other forms of orange.
Over 40 bandanas were sold, and many people found dramatic ways of
displaying them. Over 30 people wore orange ribbons and some versions
of the organizing coalition’s flyer that were distributed were also
done on bright orange paper.
The march wove through busy areas reaching thousands of people. Over
a thousand WCW “Declare yourself” bright orange flyers got out in
English and Spanish.
