Andrew Card, Bush’s former Chief of Staff, came to the University of Massachusetts Friday, May 25 to receive an honorary degree. Instead, he was met with protests from students and faculty, with many putting anti-Card signs on their robes. Even some of the faculty sitting on stage joined in.
When UMass Provost Charlena Seymour tried to offer remarks of praise to Card while presenting him the honorary degree, she was drowned out in booing. Card didn’t even attempt to give any kind of speech.
Such is the welcome war criminals deserve.
