Bush’s Press Conference on Iran: Does This Sound Familiar?

Posted on February 15, 2007
Share:

There’s an old saying in Tennessee – I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee – that says, fool me once, shame on – shame on you.
Fool me – you can’t get fooled again.”

 War criminal. Mass murderer.
Torturer. Habitual liar.

He and his regime must be
driven from power, and the wars they are waging must be stopped.

This is Bush in a radio
address announcing the invasion of
Iraq, March 22, 2003:

Our cause is just, the security of the nations we
serve and the peace of the world. And our mission is clear, to disarm
Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, to end Saddam
Hussein’s support for terrorism, and to free the Iraqi people.

 Every word in this statement
is a murderous, criminal lie.  The cause
Bush is fighting for is immoral, unjust, and illegal.  The mission is conquering
Iraq as a central part of pinning the Middle East and the entire world under unchallengeable US domination.  The
US, not Iraq, has and is actively using weapons of massive
destruction.  The
US military has been terrorizing the people of Iraq, and is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of
thousands of them, the dislocation of millions, and the suffering of the entire
country.  The Iraqi people have been
placed under US subjugation and military occupation.

Bush in a press conference, February 14,
2007
, when asked if he is
provoking a war against
Iran:

If we find
agents who are moving these devices into Iraq, we will deal with them” the
point I made in my initial speech in the White House about Iraq was — is that
we know they’re there (explosive weapons his government has claimed are made in
Iran) and we’re going to protect our troops. When we find the networks that are
enabling these weapons to end up in
Iraq, we will deal with them. ” I was confident that the
Quds Force, a part of the Iranian government, was providing weaponry into
Iraq. And to say it is “provoking Iran” is just
a wrong way to characterize the commander in chief’s decision to do what is
necessary to protect our soldiers in harm’s way.

(“President Bush Holds a News Conference“, Washington Post, 2/14/07)

Not one iota of evidence has
been brought forward to substantiate these claims.  And even if they”re true – which government is
it that has provided massive amounts of weaponry into
Iraq?  Hint – it is
headquartered on the western side of the
Atlantic Ocean.

What is it going to take to
end the monstrous wars of the Bush regime?  Right now, it is escalating and quite possibly
expanding its wars in
Central
Asia
and the Middle East.  Once again
Bush is using deceit to justify continuing and widening wars against the people
of that region.  Once again Congressional
gas bags are expounding their opposition but doing nothing to stop Bush.

But the people can.  The people must.
