“Mission of a Generation” Speaking Tour
World Can’t Wait Launches Emergency Speaking Tour to Campuses and Military Bases Across Country with Message, “Stop the War Now-Drive Out the Bush Regime!”

NEW YORK, NY — In the wake of Bush’s relentless escalation of troops to Iraq this week, and his threat of a cataclysmic war with Iran, campuses should be spilling over with debate and protest. Instead they are appallingly quiet. The “Mission of a Generation” speaking tour, which begins  immediately, aims to change that.

Speakers will include-

Liam Madden: 22-year-old Marine Corps Sgt., recently
returned from Iraq and is a co-founder of the Appeal for Redress – a
call for immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq signed by over 1000
active-duty soldiers. Madden has appeared on 60 Minutes, MSNBC, CNN, Al
Jazeera, National Public Radio, Newsweek, LA Times, Salon, and
Washington Post.

Sunsara Taylor: Co-founder of the World Can’t Wait-Drive
Out the Bush Regime, and a writer for Revolution newspaper, contributor
to Counterpunch.org, Truthdig.com, Truthout.org, ZNet.org. She has
appeared on the O’Reilly Factor, CNN’s Showbiz Tonight, Hannity &
Colmes, NY1, Fox & Friends, Alan Colmes radio, Air America radio,
and countless college radio programs. She has spoken on over 50
campuses and on the opening day of Congress she debated Bill O”Reilly
on national TV on the war and torture.

Sunsara: “Some people believe students are just apathetic, but a
great many young people are deeply agonizing, overwhelmed by how much
is wrong, and thinking they can’t affect anything.”

The “Mission of a Generation: Stop the War Now! Drive Out the Bush
Regime!” speaking tour will put the challenge directly to youth and
students: “Will we be remembered as the generation who sat back and
allowed illegal wars to spread throughout the Middle East, torture
legalized, the rights of women and gays eviscerated, and a fascistic
police-state constructed? Or will we lead millions to erupt in
political protest and defiant truth-telling? Will we make it our
mission to bring the crimes of the Bush regime to a halt!?”

The tour will also take its daring message to military bases around
the country. It is an open secret that there are countless soldiers who
want to connect with other GI’s refusing to be  mercenaries for empire.

The tour begins this week at New York University as part of building
for the January 27th anti-war protests in D.C. It will travel to
Chicago, the Bay Area, the Los Angeles area, Washington State,
Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, Atlanta, Wisconsin, Texas,
Virginia and North Carolina.

Interviews available.
