What you voted for & what the Democrats say they’re going to do about it (part 1: impeachment)

You cast your vote last Tuesday in hopes that with a Democratic majority in Congress, impeachment hearings would begin.

After all, Bush & Co. have been widely exposed for a host of crimes, from blatantly violating the Constitution with NSA warrantless spying, Presidential signing statements, legalizing torture, to the war crimes committed against the people of Iraq (and the lies used to start the war), and on and on.

What the Democrats are saying about impeachment upon their victory in the election:

Howard Dean, Democratic National Committee Chair:

Interviewed by Jon Stewart Nov. 8th, Dean said that
while he knows at least half of the Daily Show’s audience would like to see
impeachment, “we”re not going to do that.”

Nancy Pelosi, House Speaker elect:

Interviewed on CBS’s 60 Minutes Oct. 22nd, Pelosi vowed that, “impeachment is off the
table”.  When asked about this declaration, she went on to assure that
“yes it is a pledge”, and even called impeachment “a waste of time”.

Since the election, Pelosi has reiterated her no impeachment pledge.
