Have you been the victim of torture and illegal detention at the hands of the Bush regime?
Then you can forget about filing a lawsuit against the government.
Just hours after Bush signed the Military Commissions Act into law, the Justice Department informed federal courts that they do not have the jurisdiction to hear pending lawsuits from Guantanamo detainees, since, after all, Guantanamo detainees don’t have habeus corpus rights.
So the Bush regime can torture and detain people without allowing them legal recourse and the regime can get away with this without threats of punishment or lawsuits.
Do you feel safer?
