Oakland had about 200 people come out on the 5th. We met in the Piedmont Ave. Commercial District and marched with chanting, drums, and placards past all the restaurants crowded with diners between 6:45pm and 8pm.
Most people there were from the neighborhood, but others came from
the greater San Francisco East Bay region. 20-25 were high school and
college age kids. 15-20 were under 15.
People joined in from the cafes. There were tons of people honking
horns in support. When we blocked traffic, all of the drivers were
flashing us thumbs up.
The general mood was that everyone had a fun time and wants to know what’s next.
