In Jacksonville, 15 people gathered on October 5. Many more sympathizers from the NE Florida region could not attend due to other commitments. We met at a busy traffic intersection in Jacksonville and waved signs at tens of thousands of commuters. We passed the flyer out to those stopped in traffic. Those involved included Jacksonville peace advocates, Democratic Party groups, and individuals of various ages, although most were middle-age to older.
We had many more cheers than jeers from commuters. I notified all TV stations and the paper, but they gave us no coverage.
Overall people felt that this action was very successful. We plan on doing this on a regular basis – every other week or so.
