In Memphis, we had a turnout of around 25 throughout the day. Everyone who showed was extremely dedicated and passionate about the cause. We spent the day holding our signs and welcoming all the honks and cheers from the passing traffic. At 5:30 p.m. we took off marching around 6 blocks in downtown Memphis around the various government buildings. We were happily supported by the Memphis police department, who gave us a thumbs up almost everytime one passed. We ended our rally with a march down the very popular Beale street. We were greeted with many loud cheers of approval and support, and we chanted “2008 is way too late! Bush step down! The world cant wait!” the whole way down Beale street for everyone to hear. We then picked a spot on Beale street and played the drums, and continued to stand in heavy foot traffic, as well as automobile traffic. All in all, it was a very successful day of resistance!
