I was going to go to the NYC or Smithtown, Long Island protest but last minute, decided to organize one here where I live. So, I e-mailed and called some folks yesterday afternoon and about 20-25 of us were able to show up on such short notice in Water Mill, NY. It was a sunny day and we had lots of posters. As the main road artery of the “Hamptons” goes right through Water Mill, where we stood by the village green, we had a captive audience as it was rush hour (3-5:30 pm). People tooted their horns in solidarity. It was very heartening. The passengers and drivers in 7 out of 10 cars gave us big thumbs up, or waved, or shouted in appreciation to us for coming out to protest. (Too bad they didn’t stop to join us.) Only about 10 in the hundreds of cars that went by gave us the thumbs down or shouted disapproval.
Our posters said:
“The World Can’t Wait. Drive Out the Bush Regime.”
” Bush Tortures Truth”
“Impeach”
“Secrecy and Lies”
“Incompetence, Cronyism, Corruption, Lies”
” Liar-in-Chief”
“Dump Bush, Dump Cheney, Dump the GOP Congress”
“Enough is Enough”
“Bush IS a Security Risk”
A local TV station came and interviewed us (East Hampton’s LTV).
