World Can’t Wait – Drive Out the Bush Regime Rally

Mark Twain warned us over 100 years ago that “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.”
For the last two years our nation and the world community have been
repeatedly told by the Bush Administration and its PR machine that the
wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are part of a broader global War on
Terrorism.
And the reasons we’ve been given for our nation’s war on terror
- to find and destroy Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction
- to sever Hussein’s links to international terrorism
- to find and destroy Al Qaeda
- to restore democracy in Iraq
- and overall to make the world a safer place
One-by-one have all been revealed as bright, shining lies.
Moreover, untold Iraqis are dead, thousands of Americans are dead, and tens of thousands are wounded.
But what happens to any of us who question the White House and point out their bright shining lies?
First of all, we’re targeted as enemies.
Then labelled un-American.
Accused of hating our country.
And one-by-one we’re isolated.
But, let me remind you, that in 1796 George Washington reminded us who the real patriots are.
George Washington told the American people to beware the false
patriots who would usurp the applause of the people, but who betray our
American values. He warned us that false patriots would wrap themselves
in the American flag, at the same time betraying our values. We,
gathered here today are the real patriots.
We love our country and we expect better of it.
We are not tricked by George Bush, Dick Cheney, or Condoleeza Rice-today’s false patriots.
J’accuse George Bush, Dick Cheney, and Condoleeza Rice!
Not only have you strayed away from your own ideals, you no longer represent ours.
And finally, Condoleeza Rice betrays all of us when she compares her
work to that of the civil rights heroes who moved our country forward.
This is one of America’s most ignominious moments. Only the acts of
millions of Americans, committed to peace and justice, can avert the
mighty collision rushing toward us.
Our stand today, across our country, is just the beginning; we *will* wash down the mightiest walls of oppression.
Truth is on the march and nothing can stop it!
