Dear World Can’t Wait, Our peaceful protest in Albany – the Capital of New York – was extremely successful! Horns honked their solidarity throughout the day, while pedestrians flashed thumbs-up and often high-fived us as we passed. Our Albany Police escort was extremely courteous and helpful… riding alongside us and blocking all through-streets to enable our marchers to cross safely in one long unbroken line throughout the city. Our protest in front of the Capital Building was filmed and duly reported on all local news stations this evening including Channels 6, 10 and 13. I proudly wore my “Stop the Dim Reaper” outfit throughout the entire day… wishing everyone a “Happy Halliburton” as I passed whenever we weren’t singing or chanting as a group. Chants included: “What do we want?”, “Peace!”, “When do we want it?”, “Now!”… “This Is How Democracy Sounds!”… “Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho, George Bush Has Got to Go!” I also introduced the college set to the “Fixin’ to Die Rag” from the Vietnam era… changing “Vietnam” to “Iraq and Iran”. When interviewed by the press, I told them the following: “I was born in Greenwich, Connecticut – the same as George Bush, who is no more Texan than I am. I’ve been a registered Republican for thirty-four (34) years and a Christian for fifty-two (52) years – and I can assure you that GEORGE BUSH IS NEITHER! Torture and Greed are NOT my family’s values! Since we did not meet a single solitary Bush supporter along the way… the day left me filled with hope that Americans are indeed united in their wish to change the Bush Crash Course. As I left the Capital Building and headed back to my car, I passed a row of young New York State Troopers who I wished a “Good Evening” and – since I was still dressed as George War Bush – I loudly proclaimed: “Please DON’T vote for me!” They lost their normally stoic stance and began laughing… promising me that they wouldn’t. 🙂 Peace,
