‘Your
government is moving each day closer to a theocracy, where a narrow and
hateful brand of Christian fundamentalism will rule.’
Far-right Christian fundamentalist leaders are demanding the
Bush regime speed up the transformation of this society into a theocracy. The confirmation of Roberts and Alito to the
Supreme Court is not nearly enough.
According to the BBC, “The leaders appear to be reflecting a growing
sense of frustration among the Christian right, over what they see as a lack of
legislative progress on issues such as banning same-sex marriages.” They are also using the threat of impeachment
to call out their base of supporters for the 2006 elections. The relentless drive of these theocrats and
their increasing position of power and influence inside all levels of
government (as documented by James Rudin in his new book, The Baptizing of America) shows all the more the need for a
movement which speaks the truth about the Bush regime’s fascist remaking of
society and drives it from power.
