The recent Congressional hearings on Katrina have focused on
“incompetence” rather than the malicious criminal negligence that left
thousands to die. What’s the reality?
Lie #1: “We didn’t know the levees had broken or the extent of the problem.”
The truth: The White House and the Department of Homeland Security
were told of the levee breach on Monday, Aug. 29th, but did nothing.
Lie #2: “The problem was miscommunication and incompetence.”
The truth: The Department of Homeland Security has been quite
competent when it comes to rounding up immigrants, suppressing dissent,
and enacting a police state. Moreover, the White House was quite
“competent” at sending in the National Guard with shoot to kill orders,
treating New Orleans like a war zone.
Lie #3: The Bush regime has learned from its mistakes, and is now trying to help Katrina survivors.
The truth: Katrina survivors have been treated like criminals, and
FEMA has been quick to kick survivors out of government housing and has
not provided the necessities of life. 10’s of thousands of Black people
and others have been dispersed throughout the country, with no prospect
of returning to New Orleans, and the re-building process has been
nothing but profiteering.
What all this reveals is that this regime deliberately left people
to die in New Orleans, and has continued ever since in its criminal
negligence and complete lack of concern for human life.
The World Can’t Wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime!
