Protest This Friday, Feb. 17

BUSH STEP DOWN, and Take Your Program With You!

The Bush regime’s blatantly illegal NSA spying program is
making it through Congressional
hearings without any real challenge or threat of impeachment. The USA PATRIOT
Act is now set to be renewed with only the most minor changes, making it a permanent law. The “unitary executive” theory ( the
unchecked
power of the President – is now becoming the governing norm. And after all
the hullabaloo, leading Democrats have (again) sat back and let all this pass,
even giving much of it their support.

The Bush regime cannot be allowed to get away with this
further step in the fascist remaking of society. That which you will not resist and mobilize to stop, you will learn (
or be forced ( to accept. It is up to the people, taking independent
political action, to repudiate these latest moves towards a police state and
drive this criminal regime from power.

World Can’t Wait ( Drive Out the Bush Regime is calling on you to mobilize visible protests all
across the country over the next few days. The Patriot Act, the
NSA spy program, and “unitary executive” powers cannot be allowed to pass
without determined opposition from the people, demanding ‘BUSH STEP DOWN and
take your program with you’.

Here are some ideas for the kinds of actions we are calling for:

Friday afternoon, February 17, hold protests and speak-outs
in downtowns and town squares. Pass out copies of the Call to Drive Out the
Bush Regime, and information about these latest fascistic measures.

Hold visible protests in front of Federal
Buildings, U.S.
Senators’ and Representatives’ offices, or Federal courts, this week.

If anyone from the Bush regime (or for that matter any
government official who has supported these police state measures) comes to
speak in your town, protest at the event and/or debate
them about why they support these measures. Take a lesson from the
Georgetown University Law Students who turned their back on Attorney General
Gonzales.

Especially on college campuses, hold street theatre actions,
like mock government registrations, mock going door to door asking for peoples’
phone records, etc. Take inspiration
from the ACLU ad.

Put up banners all over town reading ‘NO POLICE STATE ( THE
WORLD CAN’T WAIT ( DRIVE OUT THE BUSH REGIME!’

Reach out to the many organizations, churches, and city
councils (402 to date) that have opposed the Patriot Act and bring them
into these actions.

Hold public forums and video showings exposing these police
state measures.

Get on the media
and call people to join this movement to stop this whole program.
