Right-wing ideologues are in a fervor over remarks by speakers at
Coretta Scott King’s funeral critical of the Bush regime.
FrontPageMag.com, for example, called speaking out against unjust war,
illegal spying, and injustice cheapening her legacy. They are incensed
by remarks like “We know now there were no weapons of mass destruction
over there” from Rev. Joseph Lowery, or Jimmy Carter’s reference to the
illegal government spying on Coretta King and her husband.
Two questions need to be asked:
First off, how is it trampling on Coretta Scott King’s legacy by
speaking out against some of the same and even more grotesque injustice
she fought against?
And two, who invited George W. Bush, who’s regime is waging an
unjust war on Iraq, has went far beyond many of the police state
measures used against the civil rights movement, and left 10’s of
thousands of Black people to die in New Orleans to speak at the funeral?
Talk about trampling on her lagacy!
