We gathered on Camelback Rd near 24th St because it is a main corridor for rush hour traffic. The girls from “Code Pink” came in cheer leader costumes to support our team and we marched back and forth across Camelback and 24th Street carrying the message “Bush Step Down”.
One young woman had a horn that sounded a lot like a bull moose; you could hear it from a block away even over all of the traffic noise. Others brought drums and pots and spoons. We were very proud to have among us a WWII Veteran and he stayed till the end. Passing motorists provided us with a steady stream of
noise with their car horns. Once in a while someone would go by and yell something nasty at us or make an obscene gesture (We’ve seen a lot of this monkey like behavior from Bush supporters) but mostly we had a lot of support.
One member of our group brought some great pictures of Bush doing what he does best, lying and trying to make Americans believe that he is above the laws of this country. Her signs caused some motorists to come to a complete stop in the middle of the road.
We were scheduled to go until 7:30 however we stayed till around 9 PM.
Anyone who can go to DC Please do it! Travelocity still has round trip fares starting at $215.00.
