Message from the Steering Committee of The World Can’t Wait – Drive
Out the Bush Regime to be read as rallies all accross the country on
Jan. 31st, the night of Bush’s State of the Union address.
The following can be adapted based on where
you live (the west coast won’t be getting on the bus, but still can fly
to DC, or contribute funds).

If there ever was a time that showed the
truth in our Call that “The Bush regime is setting out to radically
remake society very quickly, in a fascist way, and for generations to
come” — it’s NOW.
If there ever was a time that showed “There is not going to be some magical ‘pendulum swing'”– it’s NOW.
Everyone tonight is talking about the State
of the Union being a State of Emergency! There are more reasons than
ever to demand BUSH STEP DOWN — NOW!
A President who openly says he’s above the law, who says he can:
torture anyone;
spy on anyone;
rewrite laws based on a narrow fundamentalism;
trample on scientific evidence he doesn’t like;
take society back to the days when women were the property of men;
leave immigrants to die along a militarized border, reinforced by racist militias;
and leave Black people to die in New Orleans, as government policy!
Such a Regime is immoral, illegitimate, criminally indictable, and must go NOW!
There are people who want to act NOW. If not now, when? If not us, who?
Tonight, we must drown out Bush’s lies.
And in 4 days, this Saturday, we’re going to
the seat of power in a historic gathering at the White House to demand
BUSH STEP DOWN and take your program with you! People, this has never
happened! Tens of thousands circling the White House with one united
demand: that a sitting president — THIS PRESIDENT — Step Down!
We must make the news on Saturday this: a
movement is now on the scene that includes Broadway performers, union
members, mothers, students, immigrants, revolutionaries, reformers,
office holders, people of all religions, or no religion — a movement
that WON’T STOP until Bush Steps Down.
We must, and can, aim to create a political
situation where the Bush regime’s program is repudiated, where Bush
himself is driven from office, and where the whole direction he has
been taking society is reversed. We, in our millions, must and can take
responsibility to change the course of history.
This movement is determined–deeply
committed–to carry though with the truly decisive and momentous
political battles that lie ahead to meet its objective.
Tonight, we gather to drown out Bush’s lies.
And tonight, this gathering must become like a giant trampoline to
propel this movement to Washington DC this Saturday.

GET YOUR TICKETS TONIGHT. NOT JUST FOR YOURSELF!
Your mission is to fill a whole bus in the next 3 days!
What can one person do now? When people like
you step forward and take responsibility, it’s called independent
political action. We need thousands of people leading tens of
thousands, and soon millions.
What you don’t know, learn.
Don’t be afraid.
That’s how history gets made, from the bottom up.
If there is no chapter of the World Can’t Wait where you live, start one.
Put the Call up everywhere you go. Drop off copies of it . . . talk to people. . . People need to hear this. Get it to them!
Tonight we are drowning out Bush’s lies. And
tonight we are organizing you and thousands of volunteers to help bring
this movement to DC Saturday on the scale it has to.
Take days off work and do everything you can. Act like this is an emergency!
Saturate your neighborhood with BUSH STEP DOWN and people like you will step forward.
Reach them! Change your routine this week, and reach them with bus tickets! GET ON THE BUS!
Last week, Bush said, “We are living in
historic times. We have a chance to make decisions today that will help
shape the direction of events for years to come.”
And where did Bush say that? At the NSA spy agency!
I challenge you, WHO will shape the direction of events?
Will it be Bush? No, We must. The future we get is up to us.
Change the direction of history! Before it’s too late.
