1/30/06: This morning as the
Senate was debating the Alito nomination, 2 people dressed in orange
Guantanamo-style jump suits and a woman in a bloody dress holding coat hangers
showed up in front of the Capitol building.
When the 2 in jumpsuits lay down on the sidewalk, photographers from
Reuters, the New York Times and other publications started pouring out of the
building to capture the scene.
The protestors were
from the World Can’t Wait(Drive Out the Bush Regime, and they were detained
briefly by the police. Activists
agitated about the horrors the Bush regime is bringing in, from torture to the
banning of abortion. Passers-by got big green BUSH STEP DOWN posters and flyers
calling on people to come out at 8pm
January 31, Tuesday, for a ‘Drown-out’ rally during the Bush
State
of the Union. Cindy Sheehan and Ann Wright will be among
the speakers on Tuesday night at the World Can’t Wait rally.
There are more than
60 such rallies happening across the country exactly when Bush is delivering
his State of the Union Address. On Feb
4, people will gather from across the country at the White House to demand BUSH
STEP DOWN and TAKE YOUR PROGRAM WITH YOU.
