“Your government suppresses the science that doesn’t fit its
religious, political and economic agenda, forcing present and future
generations to pay a terrible price.”
The Bush regime has been supressing Dr. James E. Hansen, the top
climate scientist at NASA, from speaking the truth about global warming
and the means to stop it. After a lecture last month in which
Hansen called for immediate reduction of green house gas emmissions to
curb global warming, NASA headquarters has ordered its public affairs
staff to review his
coming lectures, papers, postings on the Goddard Web site and requests
for interviews from journalists. The supression of Dr. Hansen is
representative of the way this regime has treated scientists who’s
findings and recommendations are out of sinc with its agenda.
Scientists whose views disagree with the Bush administration are often
forced to have government officials present during interviews.
And the very definition and practice of science is being maligned, as
well as kept from the populace. Meanwhile, scientists supporting
government policies, no matter how flawed their research is, are given
free reign to dupe the public and determine government policy.
To Dr. Hansen’s credit, he is courageously refusing to be
silenced. He sees it as his obligation to warn people of the
looming threat to the planet, and seek the implementation of policies
which could prevent this disaster. And it is all of our
obligation to stop this regime that ignores and distorts science, while
the planet, its people, and the future at grave risk.
The World Can’t Wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime!
