Paul Hackett, the Iraq war veteran and candidate for
the Senate in Ohio, has issued one of the strongest statements yet by a
mainstream politician about the theocratic tendencies of the Bush
Regime.
The people behind Bush, Hackett argues, are little different from Al Qaeda.
“The Republican Party has been hijacked by the
religious fanatics that, in my opinion, aren’t a whole lot different
than Osama bin Laden and a lot of the other religious nuts around the
world,” he said.
In an interview with the Columbus Dispatch on January 16th, Hackett gives us some good advice.

“The challenge is for the rest of us moderate
Americans and citizens of the world to put down the fork and spoon,
turn off the TV, and participate in the process and try to push back on
these radical nuts – and they are nuts.”
If a Democratic from one of the most conservative
districts in the United States like Paul Hackett is comparing the
theocrats behind the Republican Party to Osama Bin Laden, the next step
for the rest of us is clear. We have to continue to build a mass
movement demanding that George Bush step down immediately. Make your
plans now to protest Bush’s state of the union address. We invite Paul
Hackett to join us in Washington on February 4th.
