On Monday, January 16, at 7 PM at
Steppenwolf’s Upstairs Theater, some of Chicago’s
outstanding theater artists will present scenes/readings in a performance that
they hope will inspire you to assume your birthright as citizens of the world
in this moment of political upheaval.
Readings from Mark Twain, Henry David
Thoreau, Martin Luther King, Jr., Naomi Wallace, Margaret Atwood, Harold Pinter
and recent testimony from the Commission of Inquiry on Crimes Against Humanity
Committed by the Bush Administration, will encourage you to rock the rafters of
the halls of power. Donations at the event will benefit World Can’t Wait
– Drive out the Bush Regime, a national movement calling on Bush to
step down and take his whole program of immoral war, bigotry, intolerance, and
suppression of science with him.
Among the presenters are: Mike
Nussbaum, Chuck Smith, and Members of Steppenwolf Theatre, Second City,
Lookingglass Theater, Congo Square and many more. Sponsors of the event include
Sheldon Patinkin, Anna Shapiro (also Directing) Jane Nicholl Sahlins, Bernard
Sahlins, Jim Sherman and Martha Lavey.
Reservations are not required but may
be made by email to chicago@worldcantwait.org or by calling 773- 412-8318.
Admission is free; a voluntary donation will be asked at the event.
