At 10am on Friday, January 5, Concerned
Women for America, an organization of anti-women, anti-gay, racist
theocrats, held a press conference to attempt to convince the public
that the majority of women in the United States support Alito. Four WCW
D.C. volunteers visited the conference and boldy demanded that the
horrific future of women’s rights be addressed. Shortly after Wendy
Wright, executive vice-president of CWA, began her hate-speech, in
which she called for theconfirmation of Samuel Alito, and the
advancement of Bush’s fascistic agenda, the four volunteers, three of
them wearing bloody gowns and carrying coathangers, and one harboring a
large green World Can’t Wait sign, marched to the front of the podium,
threw off their coats, and chanted “Bush and Alito will outlaw abortion
and women will die!”
They put the conference to a complete hault and
remained firm in front of the cameras, one of them recording live from
C-span, for about one full minute, and even after being escorted
outside and having a door slammed in their faces, chanted for all the
press to hear. A crowd of media reps followed them to the elevators,
where one young WCWer proclaimed: “We are the World Can’t Wait, Drive
Out the Bush Regime!, and we demand the Bush step down and take his
entire program with him!”
from the Washington Post, 1/6:
“CWA
got lucky yesterday when protesters — members of a group called The
World Can’t Wait — interrupted the news conference. Just minutes into
the event, four protesters stood in front of the lectern and flashed
the audience. They opened their coats to reveal gowns doused in fake
blood, all the time shouting, “Women will die!” The reference, of
course, being that if Alito is confirmed, it could eventually turn back
the clock on abortion rights.”
