Tortured detainees won’t be allowed any legal recourse if the Bush
regime has its way. They are moving to dismiss lawsuits from 300
prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. The recently passed military bill denies
Guantanamo detainees the right to habeus corpus appeals in federal
court. Senator Lindsey Graham even called the detainees lawsuits
frivilous and clogging the courts. Despite the much touted McCain
anti-torture bill, detainees at Guantanamo Bay are held without
charges, tortured, and are denied any legal recourse.
At
the same time, Bush made a public appearance in the White House with 19
lawyers to demand the passage of the Patriot Act. Bush has all but
called opposition to the Patriot Act treasonous. This regime is bent on
establishing a police state, and will move to reshape or outright get
around any legal obstacles in their way.
The World Can’t Wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime!
