A Call and Plans for Youth and Students to come to NYC this winter from Sam Goldman- NYC Youth Volunteer Coordinator.  [click here ]

For a letter from a Chicago WCW Youth Organizer who is already volunteering in D.C [CLICK HERE ]

-Sam Goldman, WCW NYC Youth Volunteer Coordinator

The World Can’t Wait – Drive Out The Bush Regime is calling
on YOU.  You young heroes who stepped out
on Nov.2 in the face of tremendous repression, you who so boldly took the first
steps in driving out the Bush Regime, you who began to change the course of
history. You who are outraged when watching this criminal President on the news
and feeling paralyzed and overwhelmed by the challenge to really change the
fascist direction the Bush Regime is taking society.  We are calling on you to make your winter break
matter by coming to New York City.
Drowning out the State of the Union and demanding that
Bush Step Down is critical.  New
York City is an epicenter for everyone from artists to
academics- we must call on them all to join us.
People have been working very hard in New York
at the National Office and in the New York City Youth and Student Core but we
need more.  Our actions must be commensurate
with our outrage. ‘The future is at hand what are you gonna do?’

Why go to NYC to organize, I can just stay and work in my
hometown?

In the next month we have to step up our efforts drastically
and take leaps instead of incremental steps.
The national office is a critical part in this movement; it functions as
the most central organ.  This office
cannot properly mobilize youth across the country to really declare a state of
emergency without a full student and youth staff.  We are talking about New
York City people- the media capital of the world.  Come to New York City
and work with other passionate youth and students from around the country, be
in an atmosphere that really facilitates wrangling with ideas.  Be part of building a culture of resistance
that exposes injustice and struggles against it. Take part in open-mics, go to
speaking events with prominent professors, share artwork, and attend concerts.

What will you do?

NYC must be plastered with the youth and student newsletter-
this newsletter must get into everyone’s hands.

• Teams will work with the Youth and Student NYC core on
doing outreach at communities, high schools, concerts

• Massive fundraising- sell merchandise, participate in
canvassing, organize parties!

Mass Mobilization To D.C -The Role of the volunteers in
building for buses to go from NYC to DC

We need 50 buses from NYC to D.C.

-To sell bus tickets, incorporate this into all the work
that you will be doing (i.e. going to high schools, canvassing, outreach at
concerts, selling merchandise etc).  We
also need people to set up shop and sell tickets at places like Grand Central
Station and Union Square.

– Go to places of worship, schools, LGTB community centers,
planned parenthoods, and the like. Talk to them about what we are building for
and get groups to send their own buses!

We need people to take up the following jobs at The National
Office:

Chapter Coordinator

– In charge of contacting chapters and seeing what work
they’ve been doing, help answer any questions that they may have and take notes
on conversations so we can e-mail complete updates out to everyone around the
country.

National Youth and Student E-mail Correspondent

– Goes through the e-mail sent to youth and students,
creates templates for commonly asked questions.

– Checks breaking news stories, collects articles about
what’s really going on, does some serious research for possible ‘Today’s Reason
To Drive Out The Bush Regime’ to be posted on web and generally to help keep us
up to date.

Web Publicity Organizer

-In charge of getting the word out about WCW on the
Blogsphere and Myspace

– Posting the state of the union actions on forums

– Making up meet-up groups

Action Organizer
– Composes calendar and creates a day by day schedule of
goals, times, places, and fits in rest breaks
