12/6 – today’s reason to drive out the Bush regime:
“Your government, on the basis of outrageous lies, is waging a
murderous and utterly illegitimate war in Iraq, with other countries in
their sights.”
In August 2004, a US army platoon murdered unarmed civilians near
Sadr City. 4 rank and file soldiers were convicted of murder. Several
soldiers testified that their officer in charge gave them the go ahead
to murder civilians, including in so-called “mercy killings.” That
officer, Second Lt. Erick J. Anderson, was exonerated of any wrongdoing
yesterday by an Army investigator, despite the testimony of several
rand and file soldiers.
As Condoleezza Rice tours Europe claiming that US actions, including
interrogating suspects in secret detention centers (with the reality of
torture chambers being shown at Abu Graib and Guantanamo Bay) are for
the safety of people in the US and Europe, the above incident reveals
the true nature of this war waged by the Bush regime. Or, as national
security adviser Stephen J. Hadley callously put it, “sometimes
mistakes get made
and people go over the line.” Incidents like the above atrocity are not
“mistakes”, but are carried out by orders, and are consistent with the
Bush regime’s overall motives and actions in Iraq and around the world.
The World Can’t Wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime!
