One of the crimes Saddam Hussein is charged with in his current trial is using white phosphorous chemicals in 1981.
It has recently come to light that the US used white phosphorous
chemicals against Iraqis in its brutal attack on Falluja. Moreover, a
recent poll in Iraq found that 80% of Iraqis want the US to get out and
end the occupation now.
For all of George Bush’s empty talk about liberating Iraq, including
in his recent speech about “winning” in Iraq from evil, his regime is
carrying out some of the same things as the Hussein regime, and worse.
As the Call for the movement to drive out the Bush regime puts it: “Your government, on the basis of outrageous lies, is waging a
murderous and utterly illegitimate war in Iraq, with other countries in
their sights.”
