It is an unfortunate but definite truth that your government is
openly torturing people and justifying it.
Yesterday the CIA’s chief Porter Goss declared the following:
1.”This agency does not do torture. Torture does not
work,” Goss said. “We use lawful capabilities to collect vital
information and we do it in a variety of unique and innovative ways, all of
which are legal and none of which are torture.”
Lets break this down-
A.)”The agency does not do torture”- BULLSHIT-we saw
the pictures- it’s already exposed- –(HELLO AND NOW YOU HAVE SECRET DETENTION
CENTERS IN F-ing CENTRAL EUROPE)… ‘We don’t DO torture”- What the hell
does that mean? “We don’t DO torture, we do a rewriting of law to meet our
agenda- that JUSTIFIES ANY MEANS NECESSARY”- might have been more
appropriate. Take out the shredder- the law is being rewritten.
B.)” Torture does not work”- I encourage you to look
really deeply into this statement -“does not work”- a chief of so-called
“intelligence” is shamelessly saying that if torture worked it would
be enforced. Then let us think- lets go back- they DO TORTURE- there is no
escaping that- everyday we are presented with more proof. In addition, let us
think seriously about what it means when the head of the CIA says that torture
does not work. Work how? Torture- the infliction of physical pain or mental
anguish on people as a way of breaking people down. When you are being
brutalized and your personhood destroyed you are subservient-silenced. To your
perverse government, this is all part of their plan to tear apart and rip out
all that they can from whoever they can- in their Christian fascist crusade. It
does work for them- in fact it is a very crucial element in their plan. Torture
is a method of silencing those who go against a dictatorship, that’s why they
do it. It does not work, however,
when people rise up and create a political climate that won’t tolerate the
destruction of humanity.
C.)”We do it in variety of unique and innovative
ways”-
Some of the ‘unique” and “innovative” techniques
used by the CIA- secret detention centers, depriving people of basic needs(e.g
sleep deprivation), forcing prisoners to deface their holy scriptures( the only
possession they are allowed),putting them on leashes, hooding them, rape and
other acts of sexual violence, beating and kicking, the use of aggressive dogs
(muzzled but prisoners blindfolded so they don’t know), giving them
hypothermia, water boarding…
YOUR GOVERNMENT TORTURES PEOPLE-it just doesn’t call it that
2.”An enemy that’s working in an amorphous network that
doesn’t have to worry about a bunch of regulations, chain of command, rule of
law or anything else has got a huge advantage over a stultified, slow-moving
bureaucratic, by-the-book” organization, Goss argued. “So we have to,
within the law and within all the requirements of our professional ethics in
this profession, develop agility. And that means putting a lot of judgment in
the hands of individuals overseas.”
In essence this [representative of a very prominent agency which
is part of the despotic bush regime] is saying that the laws that were
developed to hinder torture, do not apply to a whole section of society. That
these rules “get in the way”. Goss is justifying torture and
manipulating the public to not see how far-reaching and outrageous this kind of
shit is. He adds that he and “his men” are by no means accountable
for any torture that takes place overseas (despite the fact that he’s giving
these orders).
We cannot tolerate being ruled by a government that condones
torture!
