Protests and Events in San Francisco this Weekend

SF Bay Area World Can’t Wait endorses June 5 Day of Action to Protest Attack on Gaza Flotilla and Israeli Blockade.

The savage Israeli attack on unarmed peace activists has already brought protests and condemnation in Turkey and across the globe.  The world condemns these murders, and knows that the number one supporter of Israel, financially and politically, is the United States.  Emergency Response Protests have been called for cities throughout the world, with this Friday and Saturday called as days for demonstrations across the U.S. and around the world.

World Can’t Wait calls on you to join protests wherever you are! Find a complete (and growing) list at the web site of Gaza Freedom March.  In the SF Bay Area, join the World Can’t Wait contingent in this Saturday’s demonstration:

    San Francisco March & Rally
    Saturday June 5, 11 AM
SF Civic Center (nr Grove & Larkin Streets)

World Can’t Wait condemns the Israeli military attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla in international waters Sunday evening.  Al Jazeera’s most recent report says 19 international solidarity activists were killed and dozens injured on 6 ships attempting to deliver humanitarian aid, and to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza.  There were 700 activists in the six ship flotilla, with many journalists and Arab and European members of parliaments on board.  All were unarmed, part of a non-violent effort to awaken world public opinion to the desperate state of the people of Gaza.  Find more reports at witnessGaza.com.

Meet Debra Sweet, national director of World Can’t Wait
    Sunday June 6, 1:30 PM
    The Mechanics’ Institute
57 Post Street (near Montgomery BART)
    San Francisco, CA  94104

A lot has transpired in the last few days in response to Israel’s murder of international activists attempting to deliver relief to the besieged people of Gaza.  World Can’t Wait will add a discussion of this latest atrocity to our original program,

"CRIMES, LEAKS & VIDEOTAPES"

We’ll be screening the notorious Wikileaks video showing a U.S. air crew murdering Iraqi civilians, along with instructional videos showing how to resist military recruiters that prey on youth and immigrants.

Here in the Bay Area, we continue the fight to stop the crimes of our government. Discover how you can participate in the We Are Not Your Soldiers campaign, hold a War Criminals Watch culprit accountable – Fire John Yoo!, and help us develop plans for a city-wide "Berkeley Says No to Torture Week" in the Fall.
