BUSH IS ON HIS WAY OUT!
…oh wait a minute…
He still has months to invade another country!
SIGNS OF IMPENDING WAR AGAINST IRAN:
|
Step up our efforts to prevent an attack by the Bush regime on Iran. We think of 71 million people, a huge portion of them under thirty years old, sitting in the cross hairs of a military commanded by someone who believes he’s on a mission from God. We have to take responsibility to prevent an attack on Iran, and if it does happen, to send a message to the world that we oppose it. Specific plans: *Hold meetings and forums everywhere schools are still in session this month. *Organize Emergency response networks to act in case of a US bombing of Iran. *Get out a basic fact sheet which the whole movement can use. *Promote the film “Iran Is Not the Problem.” *Spread the model of the Chicago City Council resolution against the US attacking Iran. Above all, let no one say that we stood by wondering why and how to act. |
Cheney’s “Peace Keeping Mission” to Saudi Arabia
-The next day Saudi newspapers told the people to prepare for nuclear fallout if the U.S. bombed Iranian nuclear sites.
-“Back in March 2002, Cheney made a high-profile Mideast trip to Saudi Arabia and other nations that officials said at the time was about diplomacy
toward Iraq and not war, which began a year later.” (Atlas)
Demonization of Iran:
-Declaring a threat of nuclear weapons even though the “National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) reported in November 2007 the consensus of all the American intelligence agencies “with high confidence” was that Iran is not actively seeking to develop nuclear weapons. (Polk)”
-Statement from IAEA head says that this is a reminder of pre-war Iraq””We have not seen any weaponization of their program, nor have we received
any information to that affect – no smoking gun or information from intelligence. Based on the evidence, we have, we do not see … a clear and present danger that requires that you go beyond diplomacy… For the last few years, we have been told by the Security Council … that we needed to clarify the outstanding issues. We obviously had to welcome Tehran’s decision to cooperate with the agency.”
-Declaring Iran a member of the “Axis of Evil” and labeling its military a terrorist organization
-Blaming Iran for the rise in violence in the Iraq. It has been reported that over 950 lies were told in the build up to the Iraq War about why it was necessary to invade – the script’s the same. (Still don’t think so? Test yourself; jump to the quiz at the end.)
Admiral Fallon’s Resignation in March
-Fallon was said to be “a lone voice against taking military action to stop the Iranian nuclear program.” (Atlas)
-“Apparently, President Bush’s firing of Admiral Fallon was meant to signal to the Iranians that “all options remain on the table.” This is the publicly proclaimed policy of the Bush administration and has also been adopted by theDemocratic Party aspirants to the White House, notably even by Barack Obama who recently said, “all options, and I mean all options, are on the table.” (Polk)
Israel Bombs Syria
-Israel bombed Syria in what may be an attempt to force Syria to activate their anti-aircraft electronics. This would allow Israel to discover the gaps in their defenses and to be able to develop a flight path to Iran
A major part of the U.S. Navy is deployed in and around the Persian Gulf.
– “The numbers are stunning and include not only a vast array of weapons, including nuclear weapons, cruise and other missiles and hundreds of aircraft but also “insertion” (invasion) forces and equipment” (Polk)

Your 4 question quiz is compelling on its face but not really enough to convince deeper thinkers. War is horrifying and nuclear war is the ultimate horror…but ultimate horror has proven to be the ultimate deterrant. When you point out that the US is the only country to use nuclear weapons on a civilian population but leave out all other context, such as the avoidance of the greater horror of a multi-million casualty invasion of the home islands of Japan (most of those would have been japanese civilians) because of their use, you do us all an intellectual disservice. It’s a horror in itself to think that something as grotesque as Hiroshima brought a greater good, but the truth is it did. And perhaps the greatest horror of all was the fact that 3 full days after Hiroshima the Japanese government *still* would not surrender, precipitating the 2nd bomb at Nagasaki. How sick is that? Yet such is human nature, and it does not change on the general scale. America has done some sad and brutal things out of ignorance & greed, but some of those things were done in the context of a much more brutal world, and as a society, we have evolved, a rare thing but dangerous if we evolve into complete pacifists in a still dangerous and ever smaller world. I applaud your idealism, I really do, and I hope the Iranians see reason, but pure idealism, historically, naturally, always loses to real brutality. And they are more brutal than we.
Your site is great. Refreshing, in fact, from the rest of the media. Thanks for giving those of us (who see through the pro-war lies) moral support!
No we are not, those in power are. The government are in control and that is something us ordinary folk have no say over. They are suppost to represent us when all they do is take advantage of what their authority and position gives them. Its a worldwide discrace; such nations troubles as Africa’s could be said to be an outcome of such power. No human should be given the right to destroy a whole nation, let alone take one life.
man, those facts are disturbing! as a nation, we’re forcing ourselves, and the rest of the world, to walk-the-plank.
