REGIME BUS TOUR CONFRONTS CHENEY IN ARKANSAS

July 24, 10AM: The World Can’t Wait–Drive Out the Bush
Regime Bus Tour arrives in Springdale,
Arkansas in time to protest an
appearance by Dick Cheney. World Can’t Wait will join the Arkansas
group, OMNI Center
for Peace, Justice and Ecology, demonstrating on the public sidewalks outside Northwest Arkansas Convention Center.

Allen Lang: “These cowards like Cheney know the Bush regime is widely
hated, so they make their public appearances in places where they expect an
unthinking worshipful crowd. But there are many people in Arkansas and all over the country who want
this regime stopped — people who see the unprecedented dangers ahead and want
to come out against the whole direction the country is being dragged
down.”
To find these
people and to transform the broad disgust into a force that can change the
national course, World Can’t Wait has gathered youth from New
York, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Houston.
They are spending the summer in a Winnebego traveling to military bases, abortion clinics,
and other politically-contested sites in New Orleans,
Mississippi, Arkansas,
Indiana and Ohio.
Lang: “This
Bus Tour is riding the faultlines, so to speak. We’re going places where gay
people are assaulted for holding hands in a convenience store, places like
Jackson, Mississippi (we just came from there) where the Christian fascists are
trying to close the very last abortion clinic in the state, places like the
‘Creationist Museum’ — a new ‘family attraction’ in Eureka Springs openly
teaching children that everything humanity has learned about basic scientific
principles over the past two centuries is a lie. Our Bus Tour is finding people everywhere who
are horrified by the Bush course, but who feel isolated. We are bringing them
together and we’re headed somewhere– A MASSIVE NATIONAL DAY OF RESISTANCE ON
OCTOBER 5, when people across the country will demand that this Bush program
come to a halt!”
On
TUESDAY, JULY 25 the World Can’t Wait bus tour arrives at 10AM at the “CREATIONIST MUSEUM OF EARTH HISTORY”– a new Christian
fundamentalist institution whose promotional material boasts that it
“depicts the history of the earth as told by the Creator! ” the Creation
story through the evidence and the Genesis account.“ World Can’t Wait will set up a Truth Museum
exhibit out in front, explaining what evolution is,
debunking the illegitimate pseudo-science promoted inside, and protesting the
life-threatening attacks on science by the Bush regime.
On WEDNESDAY, JULY 26, 9AM-12 noon,
the tour continues to Little Rock,
where World Can’t Wait heads
to steps of CITY HALL TO PERFORM AN “UNTRADITIONAL MARRIAGE” ceremony
— in protest of the state’s ban on gay marriage.
