The Democratic Governor of Louisiana is expected to sign an abortion
ban into law. The ban already passed the Senate in a 27-0
vote. It will outlaw all abortions, providing an exception only
when the woman’s life or health is at risk, but not for rape or
incest. And it will send doctors convicted of performing abortion
to up to ten years in prison and a $10,000 fine. While the law
will not be active unless Roe v. Wade is overturned, Alito and Roberts
on the Supreme Court make that a real possibility. Further, the
fact that this abortion ban was not opposed by Democrats, but mainly
received their support, shows that it is going to be up to the people
to stop this.
