Bring ” Sir!, No, Sir!” to Your Campus

sir

‘In the 1960’s thousands of American G.I’s rebelled against the Vietnam War, changing the course of U.S history and society.  No film has ever told their story) until now.’

The film ‘Sir, No, Sir’, a documentary covering the G.I resistance movement during the Vietnam War, will be opening up nationally in cities across the country this Spring.  World Can’t Wait Drive out the Bush Regime has been granted access to hold public screenings of this powerful documentary and is planning to host premieres on campuses across the country.

In a recent press release the filmmakers stated:

“The film does four things: 1) Brings to life the history of the GI movement through the stories of those who were part of it; 2) Reveals the explosion of defiance that the movement gave birth to with never-before-seen archival material; 3) Explores the profound impact that movement had on the military and the war itself; and 4) The feature, 90 minute version, also tells the story of how and why the GI Movement has been erased from the public memory.”

At a time when the U.S. government is responsible for waging an illegitimate war that has turned Iraq into a nation of unmarked graves and torture chambers,

At a time when 72% of U.S troops think the War in Iraq should end in 2006 and Latino military Vets are marching from Tijuana to San Francisco to protest the War in Iraq,

At a time when a grieving mothers like Cindy Sheehan can reach into the hearts of millions by demanding the U.S withdraw from Iraq and the nation’s top Law Schools are fighting to keep military recruiters off campuses,

‘Sir!, No, Sir!’ is a timely and inspiring film featuring the stories of U.S troops who came to recognize the simple truth that the war in Vietnam was WRONG and put their lives on the line to end an unjust and immoral war in Southeast Asia.  The film is a powerful testament that ‘history is full of examples where people who had right on their side fought against tremendous odds and were victorious.’

We are encouraging World Can’t Wait chapters to hold screenings of the documentary as part of expanding a generation’s horizon of what is possible when people of conscience rebel against the injustices they find intolerable and the need for a movement from below that seeks to change the course of history.

Bring these stories to life by hosting screenings of the film and contact World Can’t Wait for a DVD copy to screen.

Email youth_students@worldcantwait.org to receive a copy of ‘Sir!, No, Sir!’.  These copies are only for public screenings of the film that can not charge for admission.  Please check back to see if we can use these screenings as fundraisers.  Please indicate if you live in town where there is a military base.
