Howard Dean claims the Democrats have nailed Bush on the Dubai Ports
deal while at the same time rubber-stamping the Patriot Act and
allowing and legalizing the NSA spy program.
In the past few weeks, the frenzy of anti-Arab racism and “take
whatever fascist measures you want to protect us” sentiment whipped up
around the Dubai ports only fed into and took attention away from the
police state measures being ratified as law by Republicans and
Democrats alike.
The following quotes reveal much about the official politics going into the 2006 election:
Karl Rove: “Republicans have a post-9/11 view of the world. And Democrats have a pre-9/11 view of the world.”
Howard Dean: “Republicans have shown a pre-9/11 mind-set when it comes to closing the gaps in our security at our ports.”
First of all, what do they mean by a “post-9/11 mindset” other then
waging illegimate wars on other countries, rounding up immigrants,
torture, police state laws, and the suppression of dissent? And second,
why would anyone opposed to the Bush program get sucked into these
disgusting terms of debate over who can build a better police state?
