Your government is openly torturing people, and justifying it.
A new report from Amnesty International reveals that even after
torture at Abu Ghraib has been exposed, thousands of Iraqis are still
detained without charges and subject to torture. 14,000 people in Iraq
are held by US, UK, and Iraqi authorities, often in secret detention
centers, and without any charges or legal recourse. Former detainees
continue to report torture, including beatings with plastic cables,
electric shocks and being forced to stand in a flooded room as an
electrical
current was passed through the water.
Kate Allen of Amnesty Internation said, “There are chilling signs that the lessons of Abu Ghraib have not been
learned. Not only prisoners being held in defiance of
international law, but the allegations of torture continue to pour out
of Iraq.”
Despite being widely exposed, the Bush regime continues its torture,
and even proclaims its legal right to do so. This horror will not stop
until we drive out the criminal regime responsible.
