Your government, on the basis of outrageous
lies, is waging a murderous and utterly illegitimate war in Iraq, with
other countries in their sights.
Nearly 3 years of US war and occupation of Iraq has brought down
bombs on civilians, torture, massacre in Fallujah, white phosphorous
chemicals, a destroyed infrastructure, and now the beginnings of civil
war. The plain truth is this war has not brought about “liberation,”
but has only had devestating effects on the people of Iraq. And this is
not due to “incompetence”, but a deliberate and malicious attempt by
the Bush regime to forge ahead in building a global empire, no matter
what the human cost, and no matter how many or how long wars must be
fought.
Meanwhile, all the Democrats can offer is a plan for “strategic
redeployment”, which means keeping troops in the Middle East,
increasing arial assaults on Iraq (which will only result in more
civilian deaths) – in short, “staying the course” (sound like Bush’s
words to you?).
If you want an end to this criminal war, it will take the
independent political action of millions of people in the streets,
repudiating the whole program this war is a part of and driving out the
criminal regime that started it.
