“Your government puts people in jail on the
merest suspicion, refusing them lawyers, and either holding them
indefinitely or deporting them in the dead of night.”
Immigrants are being detained and deported to countries where they
will likely face brutal treatment for their political beliefs without
any chance to argue for asylum. So called “expedited removal”, where
immigrants are quickly deported without proper access to legal
proceedings, threatens the safety and lives of people from places with
repressive governments. Border Patrol agents are required to ask
immigrants if they fear being deported to their home country, but have
routinely not bothered to follow this procedure. And this regime has
been rounding up immigrants with a vengeance.
At the Bush Crimes Commission, the testimony of Craig Murray,
former British ambassador to Uzbekistan, revealed how CIA “renditions”
knowingly hand over detainees to be tortured by the Uzbek government.
From secret CIA detention centers in Eastern Europe, to the repressive
governments the Bush regime is sending detainees to, clearly the lives
of the people are of no concern to this criminal regime.
The World Can’t Wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime!
