We protested not only on Tuesday night, but also got to protest BUSH HIMSELF on Thursday when he visited Minnesota. I let the protestors know on Tuesday night to show up for Thursday morning at the 3M plant where he was speaking. I also called Air America Radio and let Minnesota know while on the air that morning.
The protest was a big success. We thought our turnout was especially good considering how cold it was outside, and how by the end of the rally we were being dumped on by a whole bunch of big wet snow.
We gave brief speeches, made a lot of noise, did chants, passed the bullhorn around, played some music (I particularly enjoyed the Imperial March from Star Wars), played quotes of Bush saying terrible things, and generally made the case for the threat to democracy.
There were at least three TV news station spots there (I’ve seen Fox’s and part of KARE 11’s). I’m uncertain how long 11’s spot was. Fox ran a maybe approximately 25 second spot on us which said something optimistic about how “maybe some people are starting to listen.” We also had two counterprotesters, with whom one of our members conversed. I believe he got some of that on tape, which I’ve yet to see.
I just want to thank everyone who was there, or who contributed in any way, for coming out. You all added something important to what we did! I especially want to thank Jodin, who put in an absolutely astounding amount of effort, totally depriving himself of sleep and sanity for over a week in order to market this thing and be ready with some facts, music, and clips.
