Anti-war protests mark Bush speech

It
may have been welcomed by President Bush’s supporters, but anti-war
protestors used the occasion of his State of the Union address to get
their message across. Hundreds gathered in Washington and New York
calling for him to step down.

They were voicing anger over a
range of issues including wiretapping and hurricane relief. Activist
Cindy Sheehan, whose son was killed in Iraq, was arrested in the House
of Representatives chamber shortly before Bush spoke. She had refused
to cover up an anti-war slogan on her shirt.
