In a pitiful display of virtually no opposition, Congress
today paved the way for Alito’s confirmation.
The vote to stop a filibuster was 72 to 25. Pathetic, especially considering Alito’s
intentions are clear: outlaw abortion, roll back civil rights, and hand over
unchecked power to the executive branch.
At a critical juncture, where the Bush regime states that the decisions
we make now will be locked into place for years to come, the Democrats have
enabled the Supreme Court to be stacked with fascists.
As it says in our Call, “There
is not going to be some savior from the Democratic Party. This whole idea of
putting our hopes and energies into “leaders” who tell us to seek
common ground with fascists and religious fanatics is proving every day to be a
disaster, and actually serves to demobilize people.“
We are the only
ones who are going to stop this disastrous course. Tonight when Bush gives his State of the Union- we declare a
State of Emergency; we bring the noise, we drown out the lies, and we
righteously demand that BUSH: STEP DOWN AND TAKE YOUR PROGRAM WITH YOU!
