We The People
While Christmas
shopping last month, I came across a series of patriotic jigsaw puzzles, one of
which, when completed, was our Constitution. My first thought was to buy it for
my friends. My second thought was that I should send it to the President and
his good buddies, with the hope that, as they assembled it, they might read it.
I was assured this would be a waste of time, as no
one was sure he could read. I thought I should take this opportunity to
remind everyone of something…
Our government doesn’t just represent us; they work
for us. We choose these people by the election process, so we hire them. We pay
their salaries through the taxation process. How many of you would allow your
employees such free rein with such far-reaching consequences.
I can’t tell you how many times I have been told
that our generation, Generation X, would be the downfall of our country. ‘That
is supposed to take care of me when I am old?’ I guess the joke is on them
now, isn’t it? We never had the opportunity. The opportunity
available to us now is to recover what has been lost, repair what is broken and
stand up for ourselves and our Nation. Worldcantwait.org is bringing
people together to do just that!
Recently, Bill O’ Reilly has referred to WorldCantWait.ORG as a terrorist
organization, which is ironic, since he, and Fox News, have aligned themselves
with a man who lied us into a war, falsely imprisons and tortures, spies upon
our calls and letters and orders our men and women to murder innocent people. I
think perhaps he should rethink his stance. It wasn’t that long ago that a
sitting President was persecuted for lying about his sex life to the public.
Where is that same bulldog tenacity when it comes to something of this
magnitude?
Where is our representation? Where is our
democracy? Where are our civil liberties? Where is our justice? Where are our
morals? Where is our sense of responsibility for what we have allowed to
happen, and where is our patriotism? We have long been the Nation that other
countries come to when they are in need. How can we take care of others, when we
can’t take care of ourselves?
I ask you all to STOP signing online petitions.
They do nothing. They are worthless. I know that many of you sign it and go
about your lives, thinking you did something, but the fact is, this is up to
us. We can no longer sit idly by and wait for our ‘Representatives,’ and I use
that word loosely, to represent our wishes and us. We have to represent
ourselves because each day, we discover that more of our freedoms and rights are
gone. We have to take back our government.
Where are our Freedoms of Speech and Religious
Belief? This country was founded by people who fled the Old World to have the
freedom to worship as they chose, to live as they chose, with no one person
deciding for them. We have now backpedaled, returning to a virtual monarchy,
living under King George, whose definition of Executive Power is the ability to
do what he wants at the cost of everyone else.
It has been said that George W. Bush has managed to
destroy in 5 years what has taken hundreds of years to form, but the truth is
that he managed to destroy it almost immediately. We just didn’t find out about
it until now.
We were the protectors of democracy, but we are now
the poorly paid labor of a class-driven republic, coming nearer each day to
serfdom. As a mighty and honorable nation, we are broken, our integrity
mortgaged to expediency and our assets mortgaged to Japan.
Stand
tall!
Take
action.
If not
us, who? If not now, when?
What can you do? Meet us in Washington. Walk to the doors of our
government and remind them of their job description and their oath to serve us.
We the people, hold these truths to be self-evident. By the people) For the
people) Of the people!
One Nation under whatever God we choose. United we
stand, Divided we fall. People, are you listening… Newsflash, WE HAVE FALLEN! Let’s pick ourselves up, join
together, and repair the damage.
Losing our social security, our freedoms, and our
future isn’t the worst of this situation. Our failure to provide a future for
our children, and their children, and their children’s children, for all
generations to come, that is where we fail ourselves.
I want you all to be clear on something. If you do
not participate in the process, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE RESULTS!
This is no laughing matter; this is not a red state,
blue state disagreement. It is our country, our fellow Americans being divided
by their color, their ethnicity, their faith, their income, and we can only be united by hope.
We need to bring our men and women home. We have
lost enough people to this unjust war. We need to rebuild what has been
destroyed, not just the Gulf Coast, but our reputation, our economy and our
humanity.
Are we okay with returning to a time when people are
segregated? Where colors don’t mix? Where faiths don’t mix? Where cultures
don’t mix? Where hatred and greed prevail?
I REFUSE…
I REFUSE…
I REFUSE…
Stand with me and let’s take back our country.
Bill O’Reilly calls this movement into question
because its list of supporters is comprised of what he describes as Communists
and Muslims; as usual, he is misrepresenting the situation. The movement is
comprised of citizens of the United States, a group made up of people from all
religions, all political parties, and all walks of life. These are the same
people who make up our country.
Am I a Communist? No! So, how can I align myself
with them in a cause? It’s very simple; I have an open mind. To paraphrase the
writings of Voltaire, as many others have done, ‘I disapprove of what you
say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it,’ undoubtedly a
firm basis for the freedoms our learned statesmen intended in the Constitution.
I don’t have to agree with the beliefs of others to support their right to have
them. We are simply Americans fighting for our inherent rights.
Bush said we were attacked because these terrorists
hate our democracy and our freedom, yet his actions in ordering the spying on
American citizens without due process is also a blatant denial of democracy and
freedom. Neither is his refusal to support conservation in rejecting the Kyoto
Protocol, and by his own admission, his refusal to listen to the opinions of
anyone, but to base his policy on his own narrow-minded beliefs.
Agreeing with WCW is not what we need. Participation
is key.
January 31st, BRING THE NOISE, drown out Bush’s State of the
Union Address with pots, pans, drums, horns and voices. We’ve heard enough
lies, now we want answers.

Sunday I attended testimony from victims and
volunteers of Hurricane Katrina at Columbia Law School. Below is one off the
testimonies that I felt you should hear because they were powerful. All have
been corroborated by government documents, memos or newspaper articles.
Larry McBride
Mr. McBride
was left to drown in Templeman III, a New Orleans prison compound when Katrina
struck. He was in jail for drunken disorderly conduct when the hurricane
approached. The warden announced to all of the inmates that he was releasing
those who were not a threat to society and the rest would be transferred somewhere safe for the duration
of the hurricane. Mr. McBride
assisted the warden in getting to high land after he informed him that he could
not swim, then the inmates, 38 per dorm more than 600 total, were locked in and
abandoned when the guards left to evacuate with their families.
Soon the
dormitories began to flood, they filled with sewage which was backing backing up
from the toilets, and storm water. In a short amount of time, the water
was chest high, in fear of drowning, they used a bed frame to bust out a window
to climb to a higher floor in the building. They sustained gashes from the
barbed wire, broken glass and broken bars on their way to safety.
Before long
the upper floor was filled with inmates who were forced to press in together to
stay dry, no air conditioning, no food, and no water. The inmates were
trapped in these conditions
for four
days, before they
again busted
through a window, this time with the intention of heading to higher ground
within the prison yard. They tied sheets together and used them to climb
down from the upper floor into the yard. As they headed up to a higher
point they encountered the National Guard, who accused them of trying to escape
and beat some of the inmates, resulting in broken jaws, ribs, etc.
The inmates
were taken to high ground, which was a bridge, where they sat in the hot sun.
Their requests for food and water were denied, while the guards and their
families were taken care of
At this
point at least 500 inmates are still missing. Bodies were reported to be seen
floating around in the jail.
