“Your government is moving to deny women here, and all over the world, the right to birth control and abortion.”
On Monday, President Bush called in to an
anti-abortion rally in Washington, D.C., to voice his support and
declare “the rightness of our cause” on the 33rd anniversary of Roe v.
Wade. He encouraged the protesters in their struggle and called their
goals noble.
Noble? How noble is it to rip away from a woman the right to control
her own body — or worse, to do it systematically to all women?
Bush claimed in his address to the
anti-abortionists that their ideas were “rooted in America’s deepest
principles” — and this has a lot of truth to it. At the time of the
Founding Fathers, women were seen as property of men and were not given
the right to vote or own property themselves, or of course, the right
to choose. It also reveals what he thinks about the Constitution and
other legal documents, and how his judicial appointees like Alito will
be acting on the issue once they are throned.
On how many more anniversaries of Roe v.
Wade will we let the President continue exhorting these modern-day
brownshirts to continue the battle against abortion?
More importantly, for how many more anniversaries of Roe v. Wade will we still have the right to abortion?
The answer to that question depends on you.
Go all out and do all you can to support the movement to drive out the
Bush regime and demand that BUSH STEP DOWN!
