For the College students who have been actively organizing on their
Campus or are outraged by the Bush Regime’s relentless drive to
transform society in a fascist way- come to New York City and
Washington D.C during your Winter Break. We face a future of
horrors under this regime and you should be one of the dozens of
students who volutneers out of the National Office and mobilizing on the ground in D.C. When Bush stands in front of the
world to deliver his State Of the Union Address he must be drowned
out with an undeniable voice heard around the world of: STEP DOWN, STEP
DOWN, BUSH MUST GO
DRIVE OUT THE BUSH REGIME!
Take a look around you. Whole villages are being barb-wired shut, made into literal prisons in Iraq,
and far more horrors like this have been promised for other countries.
Torture is being committed, justified and legalized by the U.S.
government(and, just as ominously, this is more and more being ACCEPTED
by millions. A major city was literally destroyed by a natural
disaster, and the Bush regime responded (and didn’t) in a way that left
thousands needlessly dead, hundreds of thousands needlessly and
forcibly displaced, and made crystal clear the regime’s priorities and
plans for Black people. Experts have said that sea level globally could
rise at least 15 feet because of global warming. A close advisor to
President Bush was declared unfit to serve a lifelong term on the
supreme court by a rabidly conservative Christian fundamentalist
movement that wants to change the whole way this country is run, and
will not take ‘no’ for an answer.
The America
we’ve grown up with is never coming back. We’re either going forward
into Bush’s future–or into one we fight for, and forge ourselves.
Think about it. Driving this Regime Out: Is there anything else that
can meet the enormity of the challenge we face, and wouldn’t this make
an impact on the whole world that would be cheered and welcomed by
BILLIONS of people?
This winter break, we’re asking college students
to do something that’s really going to matter with the time they’ll
have away from their studies. We’re asking them to come
to Washington D.C and be part of mobilizing tens of thousands
of people to strip this regime of it’s legitimacy and demand Bush Step
Down and take your whole program with you. Be part
of leading the movement to force out what one Nobel Laureate
Playwright has referred to as ‘the most dangerous force in
history’.
In the lead-up to November 2nd, I
answered a call to come to NYC because I knew that the role played by
the National Office in sparking and leading this movement in all parts
of this country was crucial to its ability to gain the kind of breadth
and scale that would be needed(from tiny towns to sprawling cities(if
we’re actually going to have a fighting chance of forcing out this
regime and the program it concentrates. Essentially, I said, ‘fuck it.
I can deal with sleeping 5 hours a night on an air mattress in
someone’s living room for a few weeks if it will mean I can make a
serious contribution to how the future of humanity plays out.’
Young people should do some thinking in these
times about what their place is in the larger world and how that
relates to changing it. There is something to be learned from the
experience of college kids dropping out in their thousands in the 1960s
out of disgust at the way this country and the world were being run,
shifting their priorities to make changing the world be the main thing
in their lives. There is both a defiance and a freedom that students
our age tend to have, and this needs to be uncorked and allowed to
contribute to truly beautiful and urgently needed things. It’s time for
young people to step up to the plate and throw in on making the demand
‘BUSH: STEP DOWN and Take Your Whole Program with you!’ something that
can’t be ignored in this country. Spend part of your winter in NYC and
D.C to help make it happen.
The Future is at hand. What are you gonna do?

*Volunteer in the National Office and talk to
Students and Youth around the country who are emailing and calling into
the office. Dozens of youth from around the country contact us
each day about how to start chapters in their area.
'I live in LI New York. I would like to contribute to this resistance movement
and organize something in my area. I was hoping for some suggestions to get
started in this process. I have strong political views but I have never done
anything like this before; I am 22 years old and I live in a community where
social issues are pressed greatly and I have never done much in any such efforts.
Please assist me in my aspirations to contribute to further social realization and
well-needed reform. Thank you for stepping forward in this matter and know
that so many people have been waiting for someone to begin this kind of
movement.'
( excerpt of a letter sent into the National Office)
Work with teams mobilizing for the State of the Union Protests demanding:
'Bush: Step Down and Take Your Whole Program With You!'
*We need students who can volunteer to work with Media teams,
writing and sending out press releases, setting up Radio Interviews,
breaking this movement into the popular culture and beaming out this
Demand to millions around country.
* ‘We are talking
about something on a scale that can really make a huge change in this
country and in the world. We need more than fighting Bush’s
outrages one at a time constantly losing ground to the whole
onslaught.’ Tens of thousands, from all walks of life, took part in
history on Nov.2nd and we need take a leap in bringing forward a TREMENDOUS critical mass gathering for the State of the Union Address. Be part of a team writing and meeting with Unions,
Religious Leaders, Community Organizers, H.IV/AIDS activists, Women’s
Rights Groups and voices of conscience that need to be part of a
movement to derail the ENTIRE program of the Bush regime.
*Live and work with
youth organizers from around the country who will be taking the lead in
realizing the plans that are made at the upcoming National Organizers’
Conference in NYC.
